OUR COMPANY

Strong heritage, technology focus and a solid financial backbone

SonoSolar, a trademark of the Sono Motors GmbH represents and embodies the transformation of a pioneering automotive start-up into a technology-driven solar mobility enabler. Sono Motors GmbH operates as the wholly owned subsidiary of Sono Group N.V., a public holding company incorporated in the Netherlands and listed on the OTCQB market under the ticker symbol SEVCF. While Sono Group N.V. provides investor relations, Sono Motors GmbH through the trademark SonoSolar, is focusing entirely on implementation of its solar technologies.

This structure allows SonoSolar to rely on a solid financial backbone in order to deliver operational excellence. Combining the governance and long-term strategy of the Sono Group N.V. with the innovation-driven execution capabilities of its German subsidiary. With governance aligned and resources effectively allocated, SonoSolar can confidently execute its mission to make solar mobility a scalable, clean and economically viable solution for transportation.

Proprietary Innovation Through Intellectual Porperty

Sono Motors GmbH has been able to build a robust intellectual property portfolio. The company holds several granted patents and a lot more pending applications across key technological domains. These include advanced solar charge controllers, methods for vehicle integration, and innovations in energy optimization tailored for mobile applications.

This strong IP base actively drives Sono’s go-to-market strategy by enabling proprietary system-level integration for OEM partners and fleet retrofits. The assurance of protected innovation boosts customer and investor confidence alike, providing evidence of the company’s long-term commitment to solar-powered transportation. In a field where trust in technology is critical, Sono’s intellectual property reinforces its position as a first mover and credible partner for clean mobility solutions.

Strategic Collaborations with Global Reach

Sono Motors GmbH actively pursues strategic partnerships to extend  its global presence and enhance its solar technology offerings. A key example is the early 2025 agreement with Merlin Solar Technologies, a U.S.-based solar innovation firm. This mutual distribution agreement underscores SonoSolar’s commitment to scalable clean mobility through joint go-to-market efforts.

The two-way exchange of technologies enhances the product portfolios of both companies and introduces more integrated, high-performance solar systems to a growing customer base in commercial mobility sectors worldwide. It also represents a milestone in building a decentralized yet unified solar ecosystem across continents.

Built for scalable Global Growth

SonoSolars’s business model is built on two growth approaches across markets, geographies and use cases:

  • Manufacturer Integration: Working directly with commercial vehicle manufacturers, SonoSolar enables factory-level solar system integration — making solar panels a native part of new vehicles, not just an add-on.
    and

  • Fleet Retrofit Solutions: For existing fleets, Sono offers retrofit kits. These kits are built for high modularity and speed of installation, lowering the barrier to adoption.

A major regulatory win came with national type approval in Germany for Sono’s Solar Bus Kit, a precondition for large-scale deployment in public transport fleets. This certification accelerates the path to market and demonstrates Sono’s ability to meet automotive safety, quality and homologation standards.

Whether enabling solar power at the production line or through retrofitting existing vehicles, Sono’s systems are engineered to deliver real-world benefits: lower CO₂ emissions, reduced fuel and energy costs, and independence from volatile energy prices.
