Sono Motors re-brands itself into SonoSolar. With the transition from Sono Motors to SonoSolar the company is setting the scene for a new era to come. Resulting from a strong heritage building the first solar electric vehicle, SonoSolar combines deep understanding in automotive applications with solar system expertise.
Rather than falling back, we applied our learnings and re-committed to innovation. Leaving the Sion (our first of its kind solar electric vehicle) behind, the core of years of development and hard work was and is our proprietary solar technology. It appeared to be the backbone of our company. Time to reset and come out stronger!
A pivotal year of reflection. While the Sion project was put on hold, Sono Motors took the lessons to heart. Rather than giving up, we evaluated how our solar technology could be adapted and advanced to bring immediate value to a broader range of mobility solutions.
A small team of engineers, designers, technicians, and industry experts joined forces to develop a new kind of electric car: one that integrated solar cells and made climate-friendly mobility accessible. With the founding vision in place, the team focused on designing a car that would challenge traditional mobility. This period laid the groundwork and the success for what would become the Sion, an electric car with built-in solar technology. Supported by a strong community and an IPO the Sion is about to enter the production line.
