Solar technology for commercial vehicles gains acceptance among leading OEMs and trailer manufacturers
| MUNICH, December 3rd, 2025 – Sono Solar has been awarded the European Transport Prize for Sustainability 2026 (ETPN) for its solar solution for refrigerated vehicles. The award is presented by the trade journal TRANSPORT by HUSS-VERLAG and recognizes forward-looking solutions that combine ecological impact, economic efficiency, and social responsibility in the transport sector. The award underscores the relevance of integrated solar technology as an immediately effective contribution to reducing emissions in road freight transport and fleet applications. Sono Solar offers automotive-grade solar modules and a high-voltage solar charging system that generates energy directly in the vehicle, thereby improving range, CO₂ balance, and operating costs – without any changes to the driving profile or infrastructure. “This award sends a strong signal from the industry: solar on commercial vehicles is no longer an experiment, but a practical lever for measurable sustainability in everyday fleet operations,” says Denis Azhar, Managing Director at Sono Solar. “The award belongs to our entire team.
